FlareCDN
The component responsible for the extreme performance of our solution is now available as a standalone product!
Flare’s CDN technology allows enterprise software development teams to massively increase the performance of shared build cache and execution clusters, such as that those utilized by Bazel, Buck, and Gradle and others which implement the Remote Build APIs.
Performance Impact
Reduce build times by up to 89% when fronting infrastructure provided by the most common build & execution cluster solutions in typical high-bandwidth environments
Prevent some classes of build failures and reduce build times by an additional 50% in bandwidth-constrained situations (such as remote work)
Greatly reduces the load on backend clusters
Features
Core technology: caches the “hottest” artifacts for a given geographical zone at the edge using specialized technology that’s custom-built for this use case
SafeMode: allows the server to intelligently control which actions are executed remotely vs locally, using a stock build client (no forks necessary) - can be controlled on a build-by-build basis
Add support for “build without the bytes”, even to backends that may not be compliant
Optimizes a number of other parameters to maximize performance and throughput
Standalone modular design — deploy instances of this small component in front of any existing build & test infrastructure to reduce build times and maximize developer productivity — even if you’re not using any of Flare’s other offerings.
